Jenny Jonker MSW, RSW

Clinical Lead/Owner

Hello, I’m Jenny, the founder of Dragonfly Counselling and Wellness. Originally from Nicaragua, I immigrated to Canada as a refugee. My own personal challenges and experiences have deeply influenced the person I am today and the way I approach my work with clients.

Having gone through my own trauma and life challenges, I know firsthand the importance of having someone show up as a genuine person. I am committed to creating a space where you feel heard, validated, and respected. Authenticity is at the core of my practice, and I believe in fostering an environment where individuals can truly feel seen and supported.

With over 15 years of experience in mental health and social services, I’ve developed a diverse skill set and deep expertise in the field. My career has included roles as a school social worker, where I supported students' emotional well-being, in child welfare and working with survivors of sexual abuse. I’ve also gained valuable experience in private practice with complex trauma and in settlement services with immigrants and refugees. These experiences have not only deepened my understanding of trauma but also strengthened my ability to approach therapy with compassion and a client-centered focus.

In addition, also have the privilege of working alongside Indigenous communities, both on and off reserve, to address and heal the intergenerational trauma and life challenges that many face. I greatly value the continued trust and am honoured to walk alongside all of you on this journey.

My therapy approach is eclectic and tailored to each individual. I believe that a flexible, client-centered approach is essential for lasting change. I am certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), with a focus on complex trauma.

Outside of my professional life, I am an avid traveler and mother to two wonderful kids who keep me on my toes. I am also deeply connected to my family and culture, which continues to be an important part of who I am.

If you're seeking support, I offer individual counselling sessions at a rate of $195 per session. I would be honoured to work with you and support you on your journey toward healing and growth.

I’m Joelle, a Registered Psychotherapist (RP), and I am passionate about supporting individuals of all ages—children, adolescents, and adults—through life’s challenges. My approach is gentle, compassionate, and focused on helping you find meaning in your experiences while empowering you to tap into your strengths. I understand that each person’s journey is unique, so I work collaboratively with you to tailor my approach to best meet your needs.

I am trained in a range of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Narrative Therapy. and Eye Movement and Desensitization Therapy (EMDR). My integrative approach allows me to draw from these frameworks in a way that best supports your healing and growth.

My passion for helping others began early in life. Growing up, my home was a safe space for children navigating the child welfare system, which sparked my desire to support vulnerable populations. This experience led me to pursue a Bachelor of Arts & Science in Psychology at McMaster University, which I completed in 2016. I went on to earn my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University in 2020.

Since then, I’ve focused much of my career on providing services to Indigenous communities, particularly those living on reserves. I am deeply committed to helping at-risk populations with complex needs, and this work continues to fuel my passion for supporting those who face significant life challenges. In line with my commitment to ongoing growth, I am currently pursuing a Doctor of Psychotherapy and Counselling through Yorkville University to deepen my expertise and enhance the care I provide.

Outside of my professional work, I have a deep love for all things wool-related. I enjoy spinning yarn, needle felting, and crocheting—creative hobbies that provide a sense of peace and grounding in my personal life.

If you’re seeking support, I’m here to walk alongside you in your journey. I look forward to the opportunity to work together.

Kathleen Foldvari BA, MSW, RSW, MSc

Associate Therapist

My passion for mental health is deeply personal—I know firsthand how heavy it can be to carry grief, especially while navigating trauma, the challenges of relationships and responsibilities. I know how life-changing it can be to feel supported, understood, and truly seen. I strive to "be the person I needed" during periods of struggle and big transitions in life.

My life journey, so far, has shaped the way I see the world—being a first-generation, biracial Canadian that grew up in Saskatchewan, gives me a deep appreciation for the diversity of people's experiences, as well as the beauty in the complexity of their identities. In 2007, I moved to Ontario, and throughout my life, I spent summers traveling across the ocean to be able to visit family. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of what it means to navigate change, transition, and the feeling of never quite being settled in one "home." They have also given me a profound respect for diversity in customs and culture.

Academically, I earned my MSc in Public Health and Health Systems at the University of Waterloo and I complyted my MSW at the University of Windsor. My background in public health, health systems, and social work gives me a unique lens on personal, community, and systemic issues, which I incorporate into my practice, inspiring advocacy at all levels.

I have experience working with first responders, healthcare professionals, caregivers, and others in high-stress roles, as well as families, of all kinds, navigating conflict. Using an integrative approach—drawing from Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Narrative Therapy, and the Gottman Method—I tailor sessions to each person’s needs. My work often includes practical, hands-on activities to help clients reconnect with themselves, find meaning, and build resilience.

Beyond therapy, I find joy in music, poetry, and visual art, and I have a soft spot for small animals, especially cats. When I’m not working, you’ll find me at home or off on an adventure with my family.

Sean Gedney MSW, RSW

Associate Therapist

Hi, I’m Sean — a Registered Social Worker (R.S.W., M.S.W.) and a firm believer in the values that make therapy meaningful: presence, compassion, curiosity, and trust.

My path to social work began when my family sought counselling during my father’s illness. I witnessed firsthand the transformative power of a therapist’s presence — how empathy and guidance can bring comfort and clarity during times of profound pain. That experience shaped my calling to help others heal, grow, and navigate life’s challenges with resilience.

Over the past decade, I’ve had the privilege of working in diverse community settings, supporting people through grief, loss, mental health concerns, and major life transitions. My work has included helping seniors facing food and financial insecurity, supporting caregivers and individuals in hospice care, and walking alongside those rebuilding their lives after hardship. Each encounter has deepened my appreciation for the strength and courage people bring to the healing process.

I hold a Master of Social Work (2019) and have completed advanced training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Trauma-Informed Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ti-ACT). I strive to create an inclusive, holistic, and supportive environment where clients feel truly seen and heard.

I’m passionate about meeting people where they’re at — providing a safe space to explore, process, and rediscover hope. Whether you’re learning to set boundaries, working through grief, or navigating change, I’m here to help you move forward with compassion and confidence.
