About Us

Why Dragonfly?

Losing my loved one, was one of the most profound experiences of my life. It brought immense pain and hurt, but also sparked growth and transformation in my life. Grief has taught me to live with intention, to value connections deeply, and to choose courage even in the face of fear and uncertainty. This journey has shaped who I am today, and for that, I am grateful.

Dragonflies symbolize our ability to overcome times of hardship. They can remind us to take time to reconnect with our own strength, courage and happiness. For me, dragonflies also bring a sense of peace and serve as a beautiful reminder that those we love are always with us.

Dragonfly Counselling and Wellness was created with purpose and intention. It honours the loved ones we’ve lost, the communities we serve, and the individuals we support on their healing journeys. This space is dedicated to providing compassionate and meaningful care where people feel truly seen, validated, and heard. Our commitment is to approach each interaction with authenticity, courage, and a genuine desire to help others find healing and growth.

We are real people supporting others in tough times. Our life experiences guide how we show up for others

—honest, sincere, and courageous.

Land Acknowledgment and Commitment to Reconciliation

This mural, displayed in our space, is more than just art—it is a visual land acknowledgment and a tribute to the rich cultural heritage of the Six Nations. The dragonfly, a symbol of transformation, resilience, and self-realization, represents the healing journey we walk alongside our clients.

Embedded within the dragonfly's body is the Six Nations Wampum Belt, a powerful symbol of unity, governance, and the enduring relationships between the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. This belt carries the history of the land we stand on, reminding us of the treaties and responsibilities we uphold as guests on Indigenous territory.

Through this mural, we recognize and honour the traditional lands of the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabe, and all Indigenous Peoples who have cared for these lands. It is a daily reminder of our commitment to reconciliation, respect, and culturally informed healing practices.

We invite all who enter this space to reflect on the history of this land, acknowledge the ongoing impacts of colonialism, and stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities. .
